OCIC- Order of Christian Initiation for Children
(Formerly RCIC)

Our OCIC program is the initiation process for children who have not received their sacraments at the usual time for our diocese (Gr. 2 for First Reconciliation and First Communion). Participating students are introduced to the life of faith in the Church and the meaning of the celebration of the sacraments.

The OCIc program is two years (OCIC Yr. 1 & OCIC Yr. 2) and requires a commitment from the participating children and their parents as they prepare to receive their sacraments. There are special rites to welcome these students (OCIC Yr. 2) into the church that are held on several Sundays during the year.

Classes for students in Gr. 3-5 are held on Wednesdays from 4-5 pm.

These children include:

· Children who are not baptized by age 7

· Children who were baptized in another Christian denomination*

· Children who are baptized Catholic* but have missed First Reconciliation and First Communion

*Baptized children will need to turn in a copy of their Baptismal certificate.
